Fitting Furniture Into An Elevator . . .

I hope somebody can help me with this! I don't even know if I posted it in the right category.

I would like to buy an 'L' shaped diner booth for my kitchen. The booth is 60'w x 60'l (on the outside edges) and 36' deep (the part you sit on). The door of the elevator in my building is 36' wide. The elevator itself is 41' deep and 72' across. Assuming that there enough room to fit the booth through the door, would I be able to fit the booth in the elevator?

I can't conceptualize it and I think it has something to do with figuring out the angles, but I don't have the slightest idea where to begin.

My biggest concern is whether or not there is enough room to turn the booth once I fit it through the doorway, since the elevator is only 41" deep and I need 60" of space. The other 60" can be vertical, so it would clear the ceiling with no problem. I hope this makes sense! Thank you!!

I haven't taken math in almost 20 years. This is a real life problem that I was hoping somebody could help me with.

You must keep the booth absolutely square with the wall in order to fit the 36" seat through the 36" door. The moment you rotate the booth, its cross section is now wider than the door. Since you can push it in straight only 24" (That's 60" - 36") before you hit the other seat, the rest of the elevator doesn't help. I think you're sunk unless you can get it in two pieces. Then we can talk.

I'm nervous about the 36" door. Are you sure the little rubber guards are that far apart?

I was thinking I could slide it in on its end, with one of the sides of the "L" pointing in the air, so that way it would fit all the way to the back (that doesn't totally solve the problem because the elevator isn't 60" deep).
I'm pretty sure there is wiggle room as far as the 36" door is concerned.
But it looks like I might have to have it made in 2 pieces, unfortunately.

I'm not getting it. How tall is the booth when it is set up? What part is 36"? Floor to top when set up or wall to knees when set up? I think we're missing an important measurement.

Right now, I'm thinking it WILL fit INSIDE the elevator. In fact, I think it could be 69" long and still fit INSIDE the elevator. The problem is getting it in there. It looks like only about 50 inches will get past the door - and you'll need ALL your wiggle room for that.

I think you're sunk.

One other thing came to mind. Is the OUT elevator door EXACTLY the same as the IN elevator door? A very small difference could torpedo the project.

I think what is needed is the "entire" measurements of the booth, if you can!
