Find the value for a, b, c, and d so that the following equations are true

(4ax^3-3bx^2-10)-3(x^3=4x^2-cx-d)=x^2-6x+8

This problem has me stumpted...should I just replaced the laters with values and then solve to get the same answers that was given?

You refer to "equations", plural, and you have two "equals" signs within what you've posted, but I can't tell where one equation ends and another begins. Please reply with a corrected version of the exercise. Thank you.

P.S. I'm not sure what you mean by "laters", or what values you've been given to plug in for them. Please include information on this also. Thank you.

I will guess that you mean the following:

. . . . .Given the following equation:

. . . . .(4ax3 - 3bx2 - 10) - 3(x3 + 4x2 - cx - d) = x2 - 6x + 8

. . . . ....find values for a, b, c, and d which make this
. . . . .equation true for all values of x.

If so, then simplify the left-hand side, and compare coefficients.

For instance, the coefficient of x2 on the right-hand side is "1". What is the coefficient on the left-hand side? This gives you an equation.

There is no x3 term on the right-hand side, so the coefficient may be taken as being "0". What is the coefficient on the left-hand side? This gives you another equation.

Keep going until you've compared all the coefficients. Then solve the resulting system of equations.

If you get stuck, please reply showing how far you have gotten. thank you.

I'm really lost now...I guess I dont understand what your asking me to do?

Judging from the sheer numbers and nature of questions that you have posted, without any effort to solve them, I would dare say that no there is no one who can help.
May I suggest that you need to go have a real heart-to-heart talk with you instructor? You seem to be behind on some real fundamental concepts.

So you're needing lessons on what "coefficients" are, how to add polynomials, how to solve linear equations...?

Please clarify where you're getting stuck. Thank you.
