Start by translating the English into math:

i) Since Judy is defined in terms of Ramey, pick a variable for the number that Ramey has.

ii) In terms of the variable in (i), create an expression for the number that Judy has.

iii) Add the variable in (i) and the expression in (ii).

iv) Set equal to the given total.

v) Solve the linear equation for the variable in (i).

vi) Back-solve for the value represented in (ii).

If you get stuck, please reply showing how far you have gotten in working through the steps. Thank you! :D

Name stuff. If x rpresents the number that Ramey has, how do you represent the number that Judy has. Then build your equation based on the fact that if you add them together you get the total.
