For ?ABC:

perimeter = 43
AB = 5x - 8
BC = 6x
AC = 12 + 2x

Determine the value of x

I tried 5x - 8 + 6x + 12 + 2x = 180
13x + 4 = 180
13x = 176
x = 13.538461...

Dont know what else to do to find x

I tried 5x - 8 + 6x + 12 + 2x = 180 <<< Why is that? Why is sum of three sides equal to 180? What is the definition of perimeter?
