Hi all,

I am having issues finding the derivative of this function, I have the answer but I do not get the reasoning behind it.

Any help is greatly appreciated

SquareRoot( 3 + tan(xy) ) = 2

SquareRoot( 3 + tan(xy) ) = 2

You have the answer. You mean you have the answer tho book or your teacher gave you or you have the answer you got on your own? Have you attempted this problem, yet?

I got the answer using my calculator, it gives me y'(x) = -y(x) / x

You understand you have to do this using implicit differentiation. It may be a lot easier if you square both sides and then solve for tan(xy). Then find the deriviative implicitly.
