  • A church is bringing a group of its members to a "clean comedians" show. If they bring 15 people, it will cost $10 each. For each additional person the church brings, the price per ticket will go down $0.20. Groups are limited to 35 people because of the seating capacity of the auditorium.

I'm having a hard time thinking of this equation. I only know that it's 150 + something. I've tried multiple attempts to use .2x or to the power of x, but it's just completely trial and error. Can anyone help? This equation is on the tip of my tongue. :p

First, you have not told us what the question is asking you to do. Please give us the complete and exact problem.

Second, the first thing to do in ANY word problem is to identify the relevant variables and assign in writing a symbol (letter) to represent each of those. After giving us an exact problem statement, please tell us what letters you have assigned to the relevant variables: something like n = number in group.
