don't have the symbols on computer to write this question out but I will explain it. here is the problem exponent 3 square root 8.

That 3 is called the "index" of the radical.

It means a cube root.

\(\displaystyle \sqrt[3]{8} \ = \ 8^{1/3}\)

We can type it any way that makes sense.

cuberoot(8)

8^(1/3)

root[3](8)

Does it help you to simplify cuberoot(8), if you know that 8 is the same as 2^3?

\(\displaystyle \sqrt[3]{8} \ = \ \sqrt[3]{2^3}\)
