Find the pattern for the sequence 1/8, 0, -1/8, -1/4, ...

Please help me find the pattern. I think it's going by either 4 or 8, but the 0 is throwing me off.

I don't know what you mean by "it's going to [be] either 4 or 8"...?

Try the usual steps: See if there is a common difference or a common ratio between the terms, or if the numerators and/or denominators follow any such pattern.

-1/4 = -2/8

Find A pattern. There isn't THE pattern - except in the mind of whoever wrote the problem statement.
