What is the number of square units in the area of square ABCD
if AB = x - 1 and BC = 5x - 13.

Do I use Area = side squared?

That is true but it is not going to help with this problem initially!

for a "square" both sides (AB & BC) must be equal → x = ?

AB = ? and BC = ?

Now continue.......
