Find the sales necessary to break even (R=C) if the cost C of producing x units is C=5.5?(x)+10000 and the revenue R for selling x units is R=3.29x.

I set the two equal to each other. --> 5.5?(x)+10000 = 3.29x
I'm really not sure where to go from there. The square root is confusing me. If anyone could please show their work and explain I'd appreciate it!

let
\(\displaystyle x = u^2\)
so that
\(\displaystyle \sqrt{x} = u\)

substitute ...

\(\displaystyle 5.5u + 10000 = 3.29u^2\)

solve the quadratic equation for u, then determine the value of x.
remember that u will be positive.
