Find the amplitude of y = sin x given the valley of the graph to be -1 and the peak of the graph to be 1.

Let A = amplitude

A = (peak - valley)/2

A = (1 - (-1))/2

A = (1 + 1)/2

A = 2/2

A = 1

The amplitude is 1. Yes? Can the amplitude be a fraction? If so, do you have an example for me?

What is the amplitude of:

[MATH]y=A\sin(x)[/MATH] ?

Suppose the amplitude is 1 or 7 or 9. Then divide that function by 13. The amplitude will be a fraction.
