Factors of 1,159

Hi! I have been trying to figure out if there are any other factors of 1,159... here is what I have so far:

1 x 1,159 = 1,159
19 x 61 = 1,159

So the only factors would be: 1, 19, 61, and 1,159.

Do you happen to know if I am missing any? If so, what is an easier way to figure out the factors of a large number such as this, other than just using the guess and check method?

1159 has no other factors.

Have you learned about prime factorizations?

Once we know a number's prime factors, we can use them to determine all possible factorizations.

Here is a nice site that explains it. There are some divisibility rules to follow.

A quick rule I like to use to find out how many integer divisors a number has: factor it into its prime factors with exponents, add 1 to each exponent, then multiply them

\(\displaystyle 1159=19\cdot 61\)

If we add 1 to each exponent, we get 2 each. 2*2=4. There are 4 divisors and you have all 4.
