Hi everyone. My daughter needs some help with this problem. Free math help is awesome and gave me the answer but not the steps even after I've Signed on. It keeps asking for me to upgrade and sign in. Ugh.

X^2 + 2x(y+z) + (y+z)^2

X^2 + 2x(y+z) + (y+z)^2

use:

(a+b)2= a2 + b2 + 2*a*b

That doesn't help. The app says for step by step, upgrade. Then I sign in then nothing :( I need the step by step on this please

This is why we need to communicate with the student - not a intermediary!

The student - if alert in the class - should have/would have understood the step I had provided.

X^2 + 2x(y+z) + (y+z)^2 → = a2 + b2 + 2*a*b = (a+b)2

X = a

b = y + z

Thank you very much. The student is 9 years old and she doesn't even have an email account as she is a minor. Hence me being the intermediary.

Well, a third-grader who is gifted enough to be taking high-school algebra is certainly capable of conversing through your FreeMathHelp account. Kindly please do have her reply to this thread with her efforts and thoughts so far. Thank you! ;)

Gsiharath, type the same letter case for your variables:

x^2 + 2x(y+z) + (y+z)^2

This alleged nine-year-old would more likely be a fourth-grader. The student would have been more likely
five-years-old in kindergarten, for example.

She is indeed 9 years old and just started 4th grade this month. She does attend a gifted school but she is more challenge through Kumon Math Center where she is one of the youngest doing the J level math. Kumon is not a tutoring center so I try to help her if she can't figure out a problem after 3 tries. I will have her post, if she gets stuck in the future. Than you for your help.
