Factoring

x3+2x-35 x

i havnt gotten anywhere.....

I wonder if there is a "typo" in your problem and this is what it is supposed to be:

x[sup:eek:xiixz6h]3[/sup:eek:xiixz6h] + 2x[sup:eek:xiixz6h]2[/sup:eek:xiixz6h] - 35x

The first step in factoring should be checking to see if there's a common factor in all of the terms, and if there IS one, removing it. Do you see that x is a factor of each term?

Use the distributive property to remove that common factor:

x (x[sup:eek:xiixz6h]2[/sup:eek:xiixz6h] + 2x - 35)

Now, look at the trinomial inside the parentheses...you can factor that into the product of two binomials.
