Factor (xy - 5xy²)

I was thinking the regular xy(1-5xy), however this seems a bit suspicious..

Removing the greatest common factor from all the terms is always a good first step in factoring an expression, so you have the right idea.

If you are suspicious about your answer, you can ALWAYS check a factorization by multiplying it out. I strongly suggest that you check your answer by multiplication. I believe you'll find you've made a small error.

OK... Thank you.. I realised the error when I finished posting the problem.. I meant xy(1 - 5y), but since I got it then thank you
