factor completely
6x^7-30x^6+12x^5
I know that the common factor is 6x(x^6-5x^5 + 2x^4)
were do I go from this point?

Not quite. What is the smallest power of x?. It is not x. Bring that outside the parentheses. Then, you're done.

6x^5(x^2-5x+2)
correct now? .... Yes

However you should check whether the quadratic part can be further factorized in real domain or not.

In this case it cannot be further factorized in real domain.
