I'm working on quadratic equations and I'm hung up on the first step of factoring.
3y^2=y+10
I subtracted 3y^2 from both sides and got
0=-3y^2+y+10
I switched the sides of the equation to
-3y^2+y+10=0
I'm lost on the next step, but I have gotten this far
(-3y+ )(y+ )
the factors of ten can be
1*10
10*1
2*5
5*2
None of these work in the factor

Look up the quadratic formula. Use it when you can't factor.

Easier if you arrange equation this way:
3y^2 - y - 10 = 0
By the way, it is factorable: (y - 2)(??????) = 0
