Im getting confused on how to factor this equation fully

10(p + 4)^2 + 19(p + 4) + 6

I would love to say how I attempted the problem.. but I have no Idea where to start. It has me completely confused. Its not 1x3, 2x2, etc. I have no idea what to do.

Substitute u = p+4

Use quadratic formula to factor.

Substitute back p+4 = u to get answers in terms of 'p'.

Ah, my favorite words. Please get out of this class! If this is true, you are over your head or you are not attending any class at all and you have forgotten EVERYTHING you should have learned to date. Simply stop this. Never think it. Never feel it. Never say it. Never believe it. Dig in an think hard. You are given problem sets because you should be able to use what you know to solve the problems. You should not EVER "have no idea". EVER.

One of us will be proven wrong by this test.

Factor: 10x^2 + 19x + 6

Wow.. What a terrible misconception. I am actually an A+ student believe it or not. I havent missed a day of class. And you would think that if I didnt give a crap about my grade or this test.. I wouldnt be wasting time on a forum trying to learn HOW to do it. So.. Thank you for coming to your wonderful conclusion. You obviously have a gift.

If you really need an excuse for why I dont understand this its because of 2 reasons. 1.. we just had spring break. We learned this prior to the break and therefor, I had an entire week with no math and I forgot some minor things. This portion is only 1 problem on our review.. it wasnt like we had an entire section over it.

2 - our class only had 1 problem that I can remember on any of our homework that involved using this method of factoring. Now that someone was nice enough to reply with a response.. I actually now remember how to do this. I even scoured through my notes and I didnt see anything on it.. THAT is why didnt know.

I would be really embarrassed if you were my teacher. You obviously give up on people way too easily. Thank you to those who helped. It helped kick start my memory.

I drew no conclusion except that I do not believe you "have no idea". I dare you to find a misconception. Notice how everything to which you are responding badly is prefaced with "if this is true". And really, I dare you to point out where I have indicated that I have given up.

"I am actually an A+ student..."
"I havent missed a day of class."
"We learned this..."
"I forgot some minor things."
"This portion is only 1 problem on our review.."
"1 problem that I can remember"
"I actually now remember"
"I even scoured through my notes"

You seem to be indicating that you DO have an idea. Excellent. Prove it by answering my test.

Note: Part of the learning of mathematics is gaining concepts of synthesis and abstraction. If you need a specific example for every problem type, you're not quite getting it. There yet remains hope, however, if you can pick it up by following examples.

Hmmm....spring breaks are really tough on you...
