Factoring into linear or irreducible quadratic factors

a3b3 = (ab)(a2+ab+b2)\displaystyle a^3-b^3 \ = \ (a-b)(a^2+ab+b^2)
 
x^3+6x^2+12x+8=(__)(____)=(__)^3

Okay I understand the a and b parts. but with this one i don't know what to do. my friend said that the final answer is x+2^3.

(a+b)3 = a3 + b3 + 3a2b + 3ab2\displaystyle (a + b)^3 \ = \ a^3 \ + \ b^3 \ + \ 3a^2b \ + \ 3ab^2

These formula should be crammed - tattooed on your forehead - never to be forgotten.
