I had to solve a problem of the function {(3,-8),(1,-1),(8,-4)}. I found the inverse of the function which is {(-8,3),(-1,1),(-4,8)}. It then asked for F^-1(-1) and (f^-1 composed of f)(1). I know each answer is 1, but I had trouble figuring it out and was hoping that somebody could explain it to me.

You can use the notation
(f-1 composed with f) (x) = f-1(f(x))

Doing that you have
(f^-1 composed of f)(1) = f-1(f(1)) = f-1(-1) = 1

Hope that helps.
