Extrema: does that mean 'local max and min'?

Part of one of my questions says: Find and identify and relative extrema.

I do not understand what they are asking for espeshally the word extrema. I have answered the question guessing that I am being asked to find local max and min. If someone could confirm whether I am right or wrong, if I am wrong could someone tell me what extrema means.
