This word problem seems very straight forward but I have not been able to figure it out- help...

Find the fraction which is equivalent to 3/7 such that when the numerator is doubled and the denominator is increased by 20, the result equals 2/3

LetThe fraction = x/y

Then

the fraction which is equivalent to 3/7 →

x/y = 3/7 ........................................................................................................ (1)


the numerator is doubled and the denominator is increased by 20, the result equals 2/3


(2*x)/(y+20) = 2/3 ...........................................................................................(2).....edited

Now continue.....
