I got a test question today that I wasn't prepared for. I'm hoping someone can help me find and understand an equation. Here is the question;

A beggar convinces a king to give him double the amount of rice each day for a month. (30 days) on the first day the beggar recieves 1 grain of rice. He comes back on the second day and gets 2 grains, the third he gets 4 and so on. After 30 days the beggar has received 35 tons of rice.

The task is to create an equation and identify how much 1 grain of rice weighs.

The task is to create an equation and identify how much 1 grain of rice weighs.

The solution is geometric series like

a + ar + ar[sup:3sb01ilv]2[/sup:3sb01ilv] + ar[sup:3sb01ilv]3[/sup:3sb01ilv] + ..... + ar[sup:3sb01ilv]n-1[/sup:3sb01ilv]

You know the sum of this series.
