Exponential expression and a polynomial

Would anyone be able to help me explain the difference between an exponential expression and a polynomial?

Not sure. An exponential can be a polynomial,
e^2x-2e^x+1 =
(e^x-1)^2 = 0
e^x=1

i think they're the same, except exponential is more general, as the power dont have to be non-negative integers, they can be anything. but im not sure
