Example of 4 non-spanning but lin.-ind. vectors in M_3,4 ?

This problem was confusing me so any help would be greatly appreciated!

Give an example of the following (if no example exists, explain why):

A set of vectors in M_3, 4 which are linearly independent but do not span M_3, 4

What is M_3,4? Is it the set of 3x4 matricies?

What is the dimention of M_3,4? Think about what a basis for your vector space might be. A proper subset of that basis will not span the whole vector space.
