evaluate the integral

evaluate from -1 to 2 (x - 2 abs x)dx

answer: -3.5

im so lost on this problem.
any help would be great. i am not sure how to integrate the absolute value.
but i tried evaluating it from -1 to 0 then 0 to 2. but i still ended up with the wrong answer.

Taking them separately is correct, so you should know what to do.

Step One: Take the integral from -1 to 0 of x + 2x (since x will always be negative, you can write it like this).

Step Two: Take the integral from 0 to 2 of x - 2x (since x will always be positive, you can write it like this).
