Evaluate 132 ft/s X 1 mi/5,280 ft X 3,600 s/h. Be sure to use the proper units. I don't understand how to do this problem at all.

Since you "don't understand how to do this problem at all", I'm afraid you need more help than we can here provide. (We cannot teach days- or weeks-worth of lessons.) Sorry!

Please consider hiring a local qualified tutor and setting aside a few hours a week (daily would be best) for face-to-face teaching sessions. With diligent effort and a little luck, you may be able to get caught up in just a few weeks.

Good luck! :D

Dear timone62,

\(\displaystyle (\frac{132 \rm ft}{\rm sec})\times(\frac{1\rm mi}{5280\rm ft})\times(\frac{3600\rm sec}{\rm hr})\)

Since these fractions are being multiplied, you can reduce them by cancelling common factors of any numerator with any denomonator.

You can cancel units as well as factors. For example, since the unit of feet is in the numerator of one fraction and the denomonator of another, you can cancel that unit.

After you have reduced all the fractions and cancelled units, multiply the fractions (straight across), and write your answer in the unit(s) that you are left with.
