freshman student wants full credit by senior yr
0.25 credit for each 45 hrs of community service
x=hrs wkd at senior center
y=hrs wkd at school
1. rewrite equation x+y=45 in function form
2. use the equation in function form from ex. 1 to make a table of values for x=5,x=15,x=35,and x=45.

A school dsitrict encourages students involvement in community service.
The district offers 0.25 credit for each 45hrs of service. A student can earn hrs by volunteering at a senior center or working with custodial staff cleaning up parks.
Sam a freshman wants to earn a full credit of service before graduation. He will work at the senior center and with the school custodial staff. An algebraic model for the number of hrs worked during his freshman yr is x+y=45.

This is the only other information i have for this problem. To me its seems like there is something missing, can this problem be solved with this missing info.

Can you post your problem IN FULL, and in readable English!
As it is, makes little sense; like, WHY mention the .25 credit
if it's not part of your x + y equation?

Also, if x + y = 45 and x = 10, are you saying you can't solve for y?
If so, you better talk to your teacher.
