ab/cde + fg/xy = 7

need to find value of each letter and must use the numbers 1-9 and each one only once? thanks!

Does juxtopostion indicate concatenation or (as is standard mathematically) multiplication?

Note: Since you have one equation in nine variables, this cannot be solved uniquely or by algebraic means. You'll have to use guess-n-check.

You can manipulate your equation, like: abxy = cde(7xy - fg);
however, there's no solution...check the wording...

The wording is poor, granted, but I put this down to the poster's re-wording. Are you sure there's no solution? I found an archived solution online, is why I ask.

Thank you.

Eliz.

If ab means a*b, there is no solution.

If ab means 10a+b, there is one solution: 95/247 + 86/13 = 7
