How do you write the equation for the ellipse with vertices (3,-5) and (3,-1) and foci at (3,-4) and (3.-2)

I have to use the equation (x-h)^2/a^2 + (y-k)^2/b^2=1 or (x-h)^2/b^2+(y-k)^2=1[/u]

How do the vertices relate to the center (h, k)? How do they relate to the major-axis length? What is the relationship between the foci, the center, and the lengths of the axes?

Use that information to find h, k, a, and b.

Eliz.
