When given an equation such as 32x^2 + 9y^2 = 54y= -305, how do you find the center, the vertices, and the foci?

A good start (after correcting the equation -- it should have only one "equals" sign in it) would be to complete the square. This will allow you to read off the coordinates of the center, and easily determine the lengths of the axes. From this, you can find the vertices.

Please reply with the corrected equation, along with the formulas they gave you and a clear listing of what you have tried thus far. Thank you.

Eliz.
