However, in my homework I have to somehow account for a change in the share of trade in the two periods. So my problem looks like this:
Can anyone help me how to calculate the effective exchange rate in this case? I'm completely lost.
Thanks
However, in my homework I have to somehow account for a change in the share of trade in the two periods. So my problem looks like this:
Country (currency) | Share of Trade 2009 | Share of Trade 2010 | $ per FX in 2009 | $ per FX in 2010 | % Change in FX |
Canada (dollar) | 36% | 42% | 0.9225 | 0.9643 | 4.53% |
Mexico (peso) | 28% | 25% | 0.0756 | 0.0788 | 4.23% |
China (yuan) | 20% | 19% | 0.1464 | 0.1473 | 0.61% |
Japan (yen) | 16% | 14% | 0.0105 | 0.0112 | 6.67% |
Can anyone help me how to calculate the effective exchange rate in this case? I'm completely lost.
Thanks
