easy question. i just forgot. solve for zero. big exam!

i forgot how to factor or solve for zero in an equation such as:
x^3 - 3x^2 + 3x - 1

basically any equation with longer than quadratic... i know synthetic devision.. but it isnt working for me here...

The basic process is as follows:

  • Use the Rational Roots Test to find a list of possible zeroes.[/*:m:3b14c12y]
  • Test the potential roots using synthetic division.[/*:m:3b14c12y]
  • Keep applying synthetic division until you get down to a quadratic.[/*:m:3b14c12y]
  • Apply the Quadratic Formula.[/*:m:3b14c12y]
Descartes' Rule of Signs can also be helpful, but is not required.
