easy derivative question: derivative of -1/(x^2+1)

I knowt his is probably something very simple but it's been a while since my last math class so i forget. What is the derivative of -1/(x^2+1)?

I figured the answer was not 1 like it is easy to make it with the power to the 0 after the derivative.

\(\displaystyle = -(x^{2}+1)^{-1}\)

So you have an expression raised to a power. That would mean you would have to use your chain rule.
