The Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA) is a measure of the strength of companies on the New York Stock Echange. The following table lists the value of the DJIA for nine years. Theres a table for this problem:
Year: (DJIA):
1980 839
1982 875
1984 1259
1986 1547
1988 1939
1990 2753
1992 3169
1994 3754
1996 5117
A. Since the plot of the data appears to be exponential in shape, find the exponential function, D(t).
B. Using the exponential regression function on your calculator, find the exponential function, D(t), using the data given in the table.
C. What is the value of the DJIA preditced for 2011 based on the function in part A? in part B? How do they compare?
******I was unsure on how to find the exponential function. Because in order to find part B and C, I would need to find part A first. Can anyone help?*********
