which would = 9a+8
can someone pls help me?

Distributive property

The reason you are distributing in the first place is because the terms in the parentheses are not like terms, such as 8(x+3), you can't add x and 3. When the terms are unlike such as x+3, you must multiply the terms by the number outside the parentheses, 8(x+3)=8x+24. Hope this helps!

As you were told, multiply what's inside bracket by what's outside;
that's 4 times (xy + 2), this way:
4 times xy = 4xy
4 times 2 = 8
So you now have:
4xy + 8 - 2 = 4xy + 6 : capish?
