If I have a point in free space:
(3, 7, -5)
Than its distance from the xy-plane is simply just the z coordinate -5.
but if I wanted to find the distant from that point to the x-axis than how would I know whic distance on the axis axis to put in from my distance forumal?
would I just choose (3,0,0) and the orignal point: (3, 7, -5)
and do:
((3 - 3)[sup:72g6e5tx]2[/sup:72g6e5tx] + (7 - 0)[sup:72g6e5tx]2[/sup:72g6e5tx] + (-5 - 0)[sup:72g6e5tx]2[/sup:72g6e5tx])[sup:72g6e5tx]1/2[/sup:72g6e5tx]
.
