It is a problem involving proportionality.

Since you title this "dimensional analysis" you should know to look at the dimensions. You want to change from "euros/liter" to "dollars/gal" so you want to divide by Euros while multiplying by dollars and multiply by liters while dividing by gallons. In other words you want to multiply (1.2 Euros/liter)(? dollars/Euro)(? liters/gallon). You need "unit fractions"- that is fractions that are equal to 1. "1 gal= 3.785 liter" is (dividing both sides by "gal"), 1= 3.785 liters/gal. "$1.256= .7965 Euros" is 1= 1.256/.7965 dollars/Euro= 1.5769 dollars/Euro.
