Hi,
I am having trouble getting the correct answer on this word problem. What am I doing wrong? :? Thanks for your help...

ps. I used these conversions from google calculator:
1 metric ton = 1000 kilograms
1 cubic meter = 1 000 000 cubic centimeter
1 cubic yard = 0.764554858 cubic meters

Q:
The density of carbon tetrachloride is 1.60 grams of carbon tetrachloride per cc of carbon tetrachloride. What is the density expressed in tons per cubic yard?

Here is my work:
1.60 g / 1 cm^3 (1 kg / 1000 g) (1 mt / 1000 kg) (1.0 X 10^6 cm^3 / 1 m^3) (0.764554858 m^3 / 1 yd^3) =

I then multiplied across the top (numerator) and got 1223287.77
and multiplied across the bottom (denominator) and got 1000000

When I divided the two I got: 1.22 mt / yd^3

But the given answer from the professor is: 1.35 Ton per yd^3

1) Why would you EVER do that? Your first three factors are made for each other. Please divide such things before multiplying things as large as the Earth.

2) I'm not seeing the problem, excepting that odd answer from the other source.
