First, are you taking a course in differential equations? If so then you surely should know how to solve "homogeneous linear differential equations with constant coefficients".

Problem 22 has the equation y''''+ 4y''+ 4= 0. The associated "characteristic equation" is $r^4+ 4r^2+ 4= 0$. What are the four roots to that equation (not all distinct)? So what is the general solution to the differential equation.
