I would be glad if you could help.

If I were to solve this problem, I would note that this is an initial value problem and the ODE to be solved is a linear homogeneous equation. I would then write its characteristic equation and find the roots of that equation.

Have you done that?

Please show us what you have tried and exactly where you are stuck.

Please follow the rules of posting in this forum, as enunciated at:

Please share your work/thoughts about this assignment.

I tried the same way. The answer turned out to be wrong. If you solve it and share it with me, I will see where I made the error.

How did you know that the answer you got was wrong?

You need to share your work - and one of our tutors will correct your mistake.

You need to show us your work.

Am i wrong up to here?
Can you bring the rest if you want?

So you want to use Laplace Transform (LT) to solve this.

However, the last line of your response (which is incorrect) tells me that you need to review (LT)

So we start with - what you got:

\(\displaystyle x(s) = \frac{4a+b}{s^2 + 3s +2}\)

assuming this is correct (I have not checked it)

next step would be to factorize denominator and

apply process of partial fraction and

apply Inverse Laplace Transform to determine x(t)

now apply initial conditions to calculate

and you are done.

If you are still stuck, reply with your further work and telling us where exactly you are stuck.
