if i want to find out the total amount spent on gas would i divide the total of miles by the miles per gallon and then multiply that by the cost of gas per gallon?

example;

23500 miles driven, divided by 18 the total miles per gallon car gets, then multiplied by $.55 cost of gas per gallon. To get total cost for gasoline.

Ever heard of Dimensional Analysis?

\(\displaystyle \L\,23500\,miles\,*\,\frac{1\,gallon}{18\,miles}\,*\,\frac{$0.55}{1\,gallon}\)

Final units are $$.
