I need help writing a formula for insertion in an Excel worksheet. This is what I have and what I want to solve for:

I have a pipe with a 5.062" ID. The cross-sectional wall area of the pipe is 2.904 sq in. Solve for the OD(outside diameter) of the pipe.

Thank you for the help.

Sincerely,
JS

\(\displaystyle CrossSectional Area (A) = \frac{\pi}{4}\cdot(OD^2 - ID^2)\)

\(\displaystyle OD = \sqrt{\frac{4\cdot A}{\pi}\,+\,ID^2}\)

for the given pipe a good estimate of the wall-thickness would be:

\(\displaystyle t = \frac{A}{\pi\cdot ID}\)
