I am having troubles finding the answer to the following problem:

Find the voume of an oatmeal box that is 12 inches high and has a diameter of 5 inches. Use 3.14 for pi.

I know that the volume of a rectangle is: V=LWH, but there is nothing in the problem about the length and width.

Thanks in advance for any help that you can give me!

Volume of a cylinder is (area of base)Xheight.

Hello, Fred!

Find the voume of an oatmeal box that is 12 inches high and has a diameter of 5 inches. Use 3.14 for pi.
You're expected to know the formula for the volume of a cylinder: . V . = . π·r2·h

You are given: . π = 3.14, .r = 2.5, .h = 12

. . . Go for it!

Thanks! I was thinking of a rectangle because it stated that it was a box. Now I know to use the following equation:
V=height x pi x r squared.
