Describe the translation in each equation then graph the function...

Hi again. Ok, I can tell him how to graph most of these. Pretty simple. But what is he supposed to describe? I don't know what they're looking for there.

For example: y = |x| - 2

Does it just want him to say it's a translation of the graph of |x| down 2 units? Or is there some other verbatim that he needs to write?

Just don't know what they want here.

I think you have interpreted the problem correctly. The "parent" function, y = |x|, is translated down two units.
