Hi, could you please help with following question:

if you have a cuboid which is 65 x 64 x 120 = 499200 CUBED

IF YOU REDUCE THIS AMOUNT BY 40%, WOULD THE ANSWER BE 199680 CUBED OR SQUARED.

iF SQUARED, WHY, as the answer does state it would be squared but i don't understand why.

I would appreciate any help.

Thank you

John uses food waste to make compost.

His compost bin is in the shape of a cuboid. The compost bin has a length of 65cm , width of 64 cm and height of 120cm.

John fills the compost bin completely with food waste.

The food waste becomes compost and reduces in volume by 40%.

What is the volume of the compost after it has been reduced by 40%

Their answer is 299520 cm squared not cubed, is this correct. Thanks.

Hello, Flying123!

\(\displaystyle \text{Their answer is }299,520\text{ cm}^2\text{, not cm}^3.\)

Is this correct?

No, it is a typo.

60% of a volume is stil a volume (not an area).
