Converting 1.83 into a mixed number

I know how to take fractions and make mixed numbers, but how do you make a decimal into a mixed number?


Heres the problem-

Write 1.83 as a mixed number

Write 1.27 as a mixed number

Can somebody help me>

Since you already know how to convert a fraction to a mixed number why don't you convert the decimal to a fraction first, then on to a mixed number?

For instance 3.45 = 3 + .45 = 3 + 45/100 = 3 + 9/20 = \(\displaystyle 3\frac{9}{20}\).
