The question is:
Find 3 consecutive integers witha product of -504.

The only thing I know to do so far is (x)(x+1)(x+2)= -504

Does anyone know the next step?

You could solve it...

In this case, since there are so few places to look, you may wish simply to hunt around. I'll just think about it for a moment and try something. This should give me a clue where to look. I'll start with x=-9.

(-9)(-8)(-7) = -504 -- Well, that wasn't much of a hunt. I hit it on the first try.

Really, I was just guessing, knowing ONLY that all three values had to be negative.

If you were told to "solve it", then make the integers (x-1)(x)(x+1); easier.

That wwould get you to your answer.

Another way is to take the cube root of -504 which is -7.9581 which would make the three number (-7(-8)(-9).
