Could someone please tell me if I have the correct answer?

Are the following equations paralle, perpendicular, or neither:

x-2y=6
2x+y=5

I answered paralle because I came up with x=6, and x=2.5, which on the graph are paralle. However I dont know if I solved correctly.

Thanks!!

Equations can't be parallel. Lines can be.

Your answer makes no sense.

1) Find the slope of each line represented. If they are the same, they COULD be parallel.

2) Check the y-intercept. If they are different, then you're in business. If they are the same, then they represent the same line and that usually doesn't make two parallel lines.

Clearly, you need help from your teacher...
