Find the work done by a force of 3 pounds acting in the direction 2i + j in moving an object 2 feet from (0,0) to (0.2).

I need a step by step solution. Can someone please break this problem into simple steps leading to the answer (6•sqrt{5})/5 foot-pounds?

First, look up the formula for work, which you should find to be something like [MATH]W = \mathbf{F}\cdot \mathbf{d}[/MATH].

Now find the vector F. You'll need a unit vector in the given direction. That may be what you are missing.

Then apply the formula. If you are having trouble, show us your work so we can diagnose the problem.
